Resume

Sónia Campos has graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 2010 (Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine) from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). In 2011 she obtained a PhD scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and began a European PhD in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the same university, in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where she had the opportunity to take part in various FCT-funded projects.She also had the opportunity to carry out private practice for companion and exotic animals and to carry out continuing professional training in the areas of animal experimentation and ethics (Postgraduate Diploma in Laboratory Animal Science at the UAB), pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modelling and clinical research. In 2016, after completing his PhD in Veterinary Sciences, he began a career as a teacher, principal anaesthetist and pedagogical coordinator at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universidade Lusófona (FMV-ULusófona). In 2019, she began her residency in Anaesthesia and Analgesia, accredited by the European College (ECVAA), at the University of Liège, in Belgium, for 3 years, returning to FMV-ULusófona in 2022. Sónia has authored and co-authored several articles, masters thesis and is a research member of several clinical research projects, including as Principal Investigator (PI). In the last two years, she has been teaching on the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, the Master's Degree in Nursing and the Master's Degree in Companion Animal Surgery at Universidade Lusófona. In addition, she manages the anaesthesia section of the FMV-ULusófona teaching hospital and is its chief anaesthetist. She also manages the internship programme and is the pedagogical coordinator of the teaching hospital, taking part in the training and guidance of students at various academic levels.Sónia enjoys managing a wide variety of species in the field of anaesthesia, while also teaching veterinary students, and also has research interests aimed at improving anaesthesia care, analgesia and the safety of her animals.
