Teresa Paula De Matos Costa Teixeira Lopo

Resume

Teresa Teixeira Lopo is a researcher at CeiED, the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development of Lusófona University, Lisbon, Portugal. She is also the co-director of the Observatory for Education and Training Policies, a partnership with CES, the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She is a sociologist with a Master’s degree and a PhD (2021) in Educational Sciences - Education, Society and Development from NOVA University of Lisbon - School of Social Sciences and Humanities. During the 2024–2025 academic year, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Paris-Saclay University, Institute Villebon – Georges Charpak, Orsay, France. At Lusófona University, she teaches courses primarily in the fields of Sociology of Education and Education Theory and Practice at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She is an Invited Adjunct Teacher at the School of Education of IPLUSO - Polytechnic Institute of Lusofonia and was previously an Invited Adjunct Professor at the IPL- Politécnico de Lisboa from 2011 to 2017. Additionally, she serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the Standing Group on Knowledge and Governance of the ECPR - European Consortium for Political Research. She is also an expert of the Unesco Inclusive Policy Lab and a member of NESET - the Network of Experts in Social aspects of Education and Training. She is an expert in quality assessment for the Portuguese National Erasmus+ Education and Training Agency. In 2016 and 2017, she worked with IGEC - Inspeção-Geral da Educação e Ciência as an external expert evaluator of schools. In 2023, she was awarded the Diploma of Recognition Excellence in Research at the Lusófona University Day. In 2022, she was a winner of the Excellence in Research Award (3rd place) from the FAZER+ programme: Support for Science and Innovation. In 2012, she received the Merit and Excellence Award as the best master’s student in Education Sciences 2010/2011 from NOVA University of Lisbon - School of Social Sciences and Humanities. As a graduate student and PhD candidate, she has won five research fellowships funded by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, the national public agency that supports research in science, technology and innovation, and was also part of two winning teams for SEED Projects, which received funding for exploratory research activities. She is a member of the Board and the Scientific Council of CeiED – the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development.
