    Anatomical Pathology III integrates the pathologies of endocrine glands, muscle-skeletal system, nervous system, eye, ear, hemolymphatic system and male and female reproductive apparatus. For each system is developed etiology, pathogeny, macroscopic and microscopic characteristics observed in the different systems. Necropsies are performed as practical component to reinforce the content learn in theoretical component.

    1. Endocrine glands: functional, congenital, inflammatory, degenerative and neoplastic changes.
    2. Muscle-skeletal system: degenerative, inflammatory, idiopathic and neoplastic changes.
    3. Eye: major inflammatory and degenerative changes.
    4. Ear: major inflammatory, degenerative and neoplastic changes
    5. Nervous system: congenital, traumatic, vascular, degenerative, nutritional, toxic, infectious and neoplastic changes.
    6. Hematolymphopoietic organs: functional, congenital, inflammatory, vascular and neoplastic changes.
    7. Male reproductive apparatus: congenital, traumatic, vascular, degenerative and neoplastic changes.
    8. Female reproductive apparatus: congenital, traumatic, vascular, degenerative and neoplastic changes.
    9. Introduction to Veterinary Pathology Forensic.

     

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    • Learn the terminology used in Pathological Anatomy and apply it correctly.

    • Acquire knowledge about pathogenesis and be able to recognize the lesion patterns and the macroscopic and histological changes inherent to pathological processes that affect the hematolymphopoietic organs, endocrine glands, musculoskeletal system, nervous system, reproductive organs, and sensory organs in livestock and companion animal species, including some exotic species.

    • Receive proper training in necropsy technique and selection of material for histopathological, microbiological, virological, parasitological, and toxicological examinations.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The discipline of Anatomical Pathology offers a hands-on learning experience, where students have the opportunity to directly observe diseases during practical classes in the necropsy room. This approach, based on the problem-based learning (PBL) method, involves the preparation of reports as independent work to deepen the understanding of the studied cases. This methodology encourages investigation and independent study, providing a more meaningful comprehension of theoretical concepts and fostering the development of critical skills for medical practice.
