Resume

I am a Cognitive Neuroscience researcher with expertise in cognitive science, neuroimaging, and experimental psychology. I completed my PhD in Experimental Neuroscience in 2020 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. My work focuses on the cognitive and neurobiological correlates of decision-making and aggression, with particular strengths in applying experimental neuroscience approaches to the understanding of human behaviour. Educational background and key qualifications. My main academic achievements include a PhD in Experimental Neuroscience, awarded in 2020 by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, and an Integrated Master’s degree in Psychology, awarded in 2012 by the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto. My academic background combines psychology and neuroscience, with a PhD dissertation on the neurobiological bases of psychopathic traits and a Master’s dissertation on the neurophysiology of normal and impaired auditory processing. These achievements provided me with strong expertise in neurophysiology, experimental neuroscience, and cognitive neuroscience. During my PhD, I was awarded a doctoral scholarship from the Portuguese national funding agency (FCT) and developed coordination and organisational skills as a core team member of the Laboratory of Neuropsychophysiology at the University of Porto. My qualifications have been further strengthened through specialised training in Neuroimaging through the Donders Toolkit at Radboud University (2013), EEG/ERPs at the University of Porto (2010), and computational models for social cognition at the University of Birmingham (2025). Employment history and progression. I have been an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education, Lusófona University – Porto University Centre, since 2022, where I hold a career faculty position and teach in the Psychology degree, the Master’s in Clinical Neuropsychology, and the PhD programme. In addition to my teaching and research duties, I currently serve as Coordinator of the Mental Health and Clinical Science Laboratory and Vice-Director of HEI-Lab. Previously, from 2020 to 2022, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Neuropsychophysiology, University of Porto, where I extended my doctoral research both methodologically, through the use of fMRI, and conceptually, by applying neuroimaging approaches to the characterisation of social outcomes in psychopathy. During this period, I also completed a research stay at the Centro de Investigación Mente, Cerebro y Comportamiento (CIMCYC), University of Granada. Before starting my PhD, I held a teaching and research contract at Católica Porto Business School (2013-2014), where I worked as a research assistant at the Behavioural Economics Laboratory.
