The course approaches the international system through economic lenses, by analyzing the formation of economic blocs and the dynamics that determine the creation and consolidation of economic spheres of influence. It focuses on the European Union as an economic block and sphere of influence and on the main dynamics of globalization and regionalization that shaped the international economic system in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Objectives
Objectives
1. Understand and distinguish the concepts of economic blocs and spheres of influence; 2. Understand what is the process of globalization and identify different theoretical approaches regrading its origins and consequences; 3. Analyse the strategies of competition adopted by different actors and spheres of influence; 4. Identify and characterize dynamics of global integration and dynamics of competition and protectionism in the international system; 5. Analyze models of multistakeholder governance and global governance; 6. Apply the theoretical knowledge acquired to case studies.
