Lusófona University - Two University Centers

It is with great pleasure that we hereby inform the entire academic community that by order of Her Excellency the Minister of Science and Higher Education dated 09/15/2022 (Order n.º 11138/2022), has just been authorization to change the name of the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies, which is now renamed "Lusófona University"; as well as the integration of the existing "Lusófona University of Porto", in this institution.

With this integration process, what was already the largest Portuguese Private University grows to a population of more than 15,000 students and 2,000 professors and researchers spread across the two University centers in Lisbon and Porto. Lusófona University now offers more than 150 undergraduate, master's and doctoral courses accredited by A3ES, already has its internal quality assurance system accredited by this institution, and is one of the few higher education institutions in Portugal that leads one of the new "European Universities" promoted and funded by the European Union.

The University that results from this integration becomes the Portuguese University that offers the largest number of European "Erasmus Mundus" Masters, in addition to hosting several research units funded by the FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology, and being actively involved in European R&D programmes, notably the Horizon programme. The process of integrating the Lusófona University of Porto into the Lusófona University, has contributed decisively to the reorganization of the sub-system of private and cooperative higher education in Portugal and globally reinforces the competitiveness of our higher education system.

For all students, professors, researchers and collaborators of Lusófona University, this process represents the creation of more opportunities for development and new possibilities for collaboration. For our institution, this is a decisive step towards strengthening our competitiveness and potential for development and affirmation in the national and international context. In this decisive moment of continuing the development of our educational project, we continue, as always, to expect from everyone the same commitment and enthusiasm that allowed us to overcome so many challenges and obstacles in the past and that will continue to guarantee us success in the future. The adventure continues!
