Resume

Patricia Branco obtained a European Doctorate (Portugal/Denmark) in Food Engineering in 2018 from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, University of Lisbon. She holds a Master's degree in Molecular Biology from the Egas Moniz Higher School of Health in 2011 and a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Universidade Lusófona in 2008. Published 18 articles in Scopus indexed journals. Organised 4 events. Supervised 8 diploma thesis of biotechnology and biology students. She was on the thesis committee of 5 biotechnology degree thesis. Edited 4 e-books. Received 1 scientific award for the best research paper from the International Union of Microbiological Societies. Participated as a postdoctoral researcher in 3 projects. She has coordinated a scientific project at the Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture And Food (LEAF), School of Agriculture, University of Lisbon (BIO-PHYTOFABs). She is currently Assistant Professor at the University of Lusófona, Lisbon, Portugal, and Researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Lusófona and at LEAF, School of Agriculture, University of Lisbon. She is invited editor of the journal Antibiotics, MDPI, since 2022. She works in the fields of molecular biology, food spoilage microorganisms, foodborne pathogens, biocides and fuel ethanol fermentation. In her professional activities, she has co-authored scientific papers with 51 national and international scientists with different areas of expertise. In her curriculum vitae, the most frequent terms related to scientific, technological and artistic-cultural achievements are antimicrobial peptides; wine microbial interactions; spoilage microorganisms; fermented foods and beverages; genetic engineer; molecular methods for identification of microorganisms; foodborne pathogens; biodeterioration; eco-friendly biocides and biopreservatives.
