In a theoretical part, historical tools, theories and trends that have marked this professional area will be provided. In the practical part, practical exercises will be proposed around themes that fit the current agenda.

Practical module:
The photographic image in its narrative and communicative dimension;
The social impact of reporting photography;
Documentary photography, background reporting and war reporting;
Composition and framing;
- Photographic response to a theme or agenda;
- Contemporary photojournalism and new paradigms;
- The photographic "truth";
- Fiction vs. document;
- Manipulation: ethical issues
The market for reportage photography - media;
Theoretical Module:
- The journalistic image: definition, genres and functions. Differences between analog and digital.
The contemporary photojournalistic landscape. Journalistic image analysis: language and expressive elements; denotation and connotation; relationship with the text.
Short history of photojournalism: some remarkable national and international photographers and publications.

Objectives
Develop the capacity for analysis and criticism in the face of images, their speeches and contexts. - It is also intended to train students to produce photographic works in the areas of photojournalism, photographic reporting and photographic narrative. - Provide students with the means to identify and characterize a photographic work in the area of photojournalism and learn about the history and the main authors of the genre.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Theoretical classes and practical classes, in two distinct components (modules), but complementary, which
reflect programmatic contents using discussion and analysis of texts, images and documents
audiovisual programs, study visits and work abroad.
In the practical module, students are challenged to solve photographic exercises around themes (based on current affairs) on a weekly basis. The printed photographs are displayed and commented on by everyone in the classroom.
