Class Quantitative Research Methodology

  • Presentation

    Presentation

The syllabus of this course aims to provide students with practical skills in methodologies and quantitative data analysis in Psychology. The goal is for students to develop competencies in conducting a quantitative research proposal, focusing on inferential nature, and acquire knowledge about the statistical foundations involved in the main techniques of the general linear model.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

UC has the following learning objectives:

¿LO1. Identify the phases of investigation in quantitative methodology.

LO2. Identify different types of scientific studies, their levels of evidence, and different study designs.

LO3. Plan a quantitative, inferential nature investigation.

LO4. Understand the relationship between conceptual hypothesis, study design, statistical procedure, and statistical hypothesis.

LO5. Apply statistical techniques of Analysis of Variance, Covariance and Multivariance to problems in the field of Psychology.

LO6. Apply Simple Linear Regression, Multiple Regression, and Mediation models to problems in the field of Psychology.

LO7. Choose and apply different statistical procedures considering research objectives and data type.

LO8. Present and interpret the obtained results from data analysis clearly.

LO9. Use the statistical analysis software JASP® appropriately and effectively.

    Note. LO = learning outcomes

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

The teaching-learning methodology is active in nature and involves the transmission of content in a laboratory setting, emphasizing experimentation using data analysis software, cooperative work, and, whenever possible, student involvement in ongoing research projects at the R&D unit (HEI-Lab). Additionally, to maximize learning and student engagement, a semester-long inferential quantitative research project will be developed, allowing for the integration and application of the programmatic content learned.
