Luzia Mara Silva Lima Rodrigues

Resume

Luzia Mara Lima-Rodrigues devotes her life to promoting equity and inclusion in education and society. Her fight for Human Rights began in Brazil, where she was Dean of a Faculty of Education, educating teachers from poor backgrounds. Holding a Ph.D. in Education, she supports public schools to guarantee the learning of disadvantaged students and those with learning difficulties. Lima-Rodrigues is psychopedagogue and sociodramatist. She directs groups of educator-actors who dramatize “school scenes”, promoting critical reflections on exclusion and showing how pedagogies can be more inclusive. Her Ph.D. is about teaching Kung Fu in disadvantaged school settings. In Portugal, she is a senior lecturer on Master in Special Education at the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies, senior lecturer at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, and CEO of Vindas International Education. Lima-Rodrigues coordinated the Master in Special Education at the Piaget Institute of Almada and she is a founding member of the National Association of Teachers of Special Education. At present time, she is a member of the interdisciplinary Research Center for Education and Development (CeiED). She is part of the Erasmus+ project “Performers2 #SCENE”, which investigates the training in Sociodrama of professionals who intervene with young people at risk in Hungary, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Portugal. She was part of the research team of the “Social participation of students with SEN in inclusive schools” funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She coordinated the research project “Best practices in Inclusive Education”, funded by the National Institute for Rehabilitation - Portugal. Lima-Rodrigues is session editor of Brazilian Journal of Psychodrama, invited co-editor by JORSEN - Journal of Research in Special Educational Needs, for the Special Issue: “8th Inclusive and Supportive Education Congress and IV International Pro-Inclusion Congress, Lisbon, Portugal, 26-29 July 2016” (Vol 16, pages 1-1150) and peer reviewer of important scientific journals, such as the International Journal of Inclusive Education (Taylor & Francis). He has in-depth experience in organising international conferences, both face-to-face and in Digital Learning. Keynote speaker and teacher trainer in dozens of countries like Finland, Scotland, China, Cape Verde, Argentina, USA, and others. In Portugal, she trained hundreds of in-service teachers, being one fo the best-evaluated trainer at the Training Center of the National Association of Teachers of Special Education. Researcher, university teacher, high competition athlete (world champion of Kung Fu in Shaolin–China), and spontaneous theater actress, Luzia Lima-Rodrigues has a curriculum based on Education, but also in the areas of Action-Based Learning, Psychopedagogy, Psychomotricity, Physical Education, Sociodrama and Expressive Therapies.
