  • Objectives

    Objectives

This curricular unit intends that the students acquire in-depth skills on the latest developments related to Biomedical Instrumentation. It is intended that students understand the operation and the main components of various medical devices, diagnostic equipment and radiotherapy. The exposure of theoretical concepts combined with the critical analysis of different "case studies" intends that students acquire the instrumental skills in order to understand the components and operation of medical devices, diagnostic equipment and therapy most commonly used. It is also intended that students understand what types of signals obtained by such equipment and how they can be processed. It is also intended that students have knowledge about the most recent techniques of diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

During lectures, the syllabus’s contents are presented using presentations based on slides and case studies, stimulating discussion between students and professor. The subjects addressed are further developed in the context of experimental protocols in practical classes.
