    The UC of Exercise, Recovery and Functional Adaptation integrates areas of multi-disciplinary knowledge, with requirement in the previous domain of anatomophysiology, biochemistry and physiology of exercise and training, for an integrated understanding of physical activity in perspective of athletic performance.
    It is intended that integrated knowledge of human physiology be transmitted in the condition of sports training, through a systemic perspective that addresses different levels of complexity (molecule, cell, tissue, organ, apparatus, system, body, task and involvement), with emphasis on the physiological impact of training load, its volume and intensity, functional adaptation, as well as the relationship between training load and recovery processes.

    1. Fatigue

    2. Classification of fatigue according to the duration and location of the

    3. Mechanisms of origin of fatigue

    4. Chronic fatigue or "Overtraining syndrome"

    5. Functional adaptation as a result of sports training: bioenergetic, metabolic adaptation,

    cardiovascular and respiratory

    6. Relationship between training load (volume and intensity), functional capabilities and recovery.

    Objectives

    Exercise, recovery and functional adaptation aims to study the physiological impact of training load, its volume and intensity, functional adaptation, as well as the relationship between training load and recovery processes. 

    Based on the concept of adaptation, we want to develop an integrated knowledge of human physiology in the training condition in the student, through a systemic perspective that addresses different levels of complexity. Students must master the following points:

    1. Understand exercise as an important organic aggression;

    2. Understand, identify and evaluate structural and

    functional bodies when exposed to exercise in all its variants;

    3. Understand and identify adaptation processes related to physical exercise in the execution of motor tasks;

    4. Understand and identify the processes of fatigue installation, recovery and functional adaptation resulting from applied training load.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Exercise, recovery and functional adaptation is a UC where basic theoretical knowledge is fundamental.
    The themes addressed in theoretical exposure are only perfectly assimilated with the complement of the analysis of scientific articles and requested works, allowing an integration of knowledge and the acquisition of a synthetic and operative view of matter. The application of theoretical knowledge acquired in the requested exercises, the orientation of the teacher in their performance and exposure allows the student to develop an integrated knowledge of the physiological impact of the training load, their volume and functional adaptation, as well as the relationship between training load and recovery processes.
