Objectives
Objectives
- Acquire knowledge about the main morphological characteristics of different groups of animals;
- Recognize the various breeds of domestic species and identify the regions of the outside, the types, varieties and particularities of the animals' coat, their attitudes and plumbs;
- Enable the student to determine the approximate age of the animal;
- Perform a correct animal identification using the appropriate methodology (natural, analytical or implanted identification methods);
- Recognise the main Portuguese breeds of animals: bovine, equine, ovine, caprine, swine, canine, feline, leporidae and poultry.
- Acquire knowledge about the main species of exotic birds, reptiles and companion mammals.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The teaching methodologies used are based on lectures, using practical examples. This will be complemented using active methodologies that are based on the principle of acquiring knowledge autonomously. Active teaching methodologies are applied in practical classes. Hybrid teaching methodologies are also used using online teaching platforms such as: zoom, moodle and genially.
