Class Theory of Sports Training II - Team Sports (Basketball, Football and Volleyball)

  • Presentation

    Presentation

    This CU seeks to provide a global view of the universe of team sports, allowing access to the basic principles of team sports as well as deepening the knowledge of individual skills and the collective principles of the team sports selected by the students. The knowledge, skills and aptitudes developed in this CU provide the basis for the student intervention as a coach in the lowest levels of practice (sports initiation and/or entertainment).

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The CU of Team Sports aims to enable students to:

    1. Lead the teaching and learning process of the different team sports and use the game to bring value to physical activities in different contexts of formal and non-formal practice;
    2. Identify the relationships and dependencies that exist between the two major phases of the game (offense and defense);
    3. Master the basic techniques/game actions in a game context with satisfactory performance (e.g., 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5);
    4. Master the essential knowledge about the rules of the game, using it as a regulatory factor and facilitator of the teaching process of different team sports;
    5. Satisfactorily master the methodology for teaching team sports, recognizing the game as the main vehicle for teaching team sports, defining the strategies to be used depending on the level of practitioners.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Classes will be theoretical and practical, complemented by the Moodle platform.

    The UC can be carried out in continuous assessment or by final exam (see Assessment Instruments and Parameters).

    Of the three team sports proposed – Basketball, Football and Volleyball, each student chooses two.

    Students undergoing continuous assessment will be formally assessed through a written test that will focus on the theoretical content of the two team sports chosen. Students will also be subject to a practical assessment of chosen sports. Students will perform, for each of the selected sports, an intermediate formative assessment, via Moodle, whose results will set the content to be addressed in a revisions class, prior to the written test.

    The final weighted grade must be equal to or greater than 9.5. Each of the evaluation elements must have a rating equal to or greater than 7.5 values.
