Syllabus
Behavior: conceptualization. Social standardization and legal normativity: evolution. Social control and devices. Family and social learning.
Deviation: concept construction. Normality and social pathology. Associative and antisocial behaviors. The extent of deviation and crime. Marginality, exclusion.
Etiology of deviation: social change and acculturation; normalization: exemplification. Deviant subject and career: representations.
Scientific reading paths and grids. Main explanatory theories: transdisciplinarity. Sociological approaches: levels of analysis.
Comte, Durkheim,
Weber. Chicago School - its relevance.
Merton: theory of anomie. Deviant subcultures. Theories of social learning, differential association. Criminal opportunity theory
Neutralization techniques.
Labeling and social reaction.
Deviant behaviors, social order/disorders, aggression, and normalization. Prohibitions and need for interiorization.Terrorism as deviant behavior

Objectives
Objectives
This CU aims to enable students on some concepts (normative and deviant behavior, associative and antisocial behavior ...) and to provide information on the conditions that determine the emergence of deviation and the construction of the deviant subject. To this end, the coordinates of the main theories and respective reading grids are outlined, alerting them to their transdisciplinary nature and the need for integration in the political-economic, cultural and socio-cultural context that served as a setting for the production of all of them.
The intention of the CU consists of empowering students to identify and diagnose deviant behavior, making them able to develop an intervention.
