Disciplina Atelier Avançado de Realização Cinematográfica

The course focuses on supporting the development of competencies in film directing, with particular emphasis on the development of fiction short film projects. Guided by different instructors, it promotes an integrated and critical approach to the creative, technical, and conceptual processes inherent to the practice of directing. The course aims to enable students to consolidate and further develop their formal and expressive resources by exploring strategies of mise-en-scène, directing actors, narrative construction, and audiovisual language. It encourages the application of aesthetic and historical frameworks, as well as the establishment of consistent relationships between theoretical reflection and artistic practice, materialized through the conception and production of fiction short films.

The selection of the annual theme forms part of the pedagogical transformation process undertaken by the Department of Film and Media Arts at Lusófona University. Over recent years, the Department has progressively adopted a challenge-based learning approach, in which a shared thematic framework guides the development of projects across the different course units within the programme. This approach is designed to foster students' critical reflection while encouraging their ability to respond creatively to a range of conceptual, artistic, and practical challenges.
