    - Restoration theory and concept evolution
    - The stages and challenges of cinematographic and audiovisual restoration - deontology and ethics proposed by FIAF 
    - The reconstruction of a work based on existing elements (image and sound)
    - Inspection and identification of deteriorations and diagnosis of the film
    - Physical restoration of the film: restoring its mechanical capabilities
    - Chemical treatment (drying / flexibility / hydration)
    - Ultrasonic cleaning
    - Calibration or color correction (analog)
    - Optical or contact duplication (optical printing / contact printing)
    - Revelation and chemical processing of the restored elements (internegative or interpositive or other)
    - Comparison
    - Documentation of all stages and cataloging in the database

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The objective of this course is to give students the necessary conceptual, technical, practical and critical tools to determine the options to restore the films and the adequate analogue treatments, depending on the specificity of the existing elements, deteriorations found, alterations of the materials, including the purpose of future use of audiovisual works. Students will have the skills to apply their knowledge from analysis to practice, in professional contexts.
