Individual Course Units
Individual modules are open to anyone interested, with no requirement to be currently enrolled in higher education.
Registration is open for the available standalone modules to:
- Any candidate who is a Portuguese national or a national of a European Union Member State;
- Any other interested party who can demonstrate valid residency in national territory for at least one year, proven by the presentation of a certificate of residence.
Considering the entry into force of new legislation, specifically the amendment imposed by Decree-Law no. 65/2018, of 16 August, which amends Decree-Law no. 74/2006, of 24 March, the possibility was established for any interested party to enrol in standalone subjects, with the guarantee, in case of passing, of certification and credit transfer, if and when they enter a course that includes them. According to Article 46-A, regarding enrolment in modules:
- Higher education institutions allow enrolment in the modules they teach.
- Enrolment can be made either by students currently enrolled in a higher education cycle of studies or by other interested parties.
- Enrolment can be made under a regime subject to assessment or not.
- When enrolment is made under a regime subject to assessment, each student may enrol in a maximum of 60 credits accumulated throughout their academic path.
Modules in which the student enrols under a regime subject to assessment and successfully passes:
- Are subject to certification;
- Must be credited, within the limits set out in point c) of paragraph 1 of Article 45, if the holder has or comes to acquire the status of a student in a higher education cycle of studies;
- Are included in the Diploma Supplement that may be issued.
For enrolment under the terms of this article, the amounts fixed, in a proportionate manner, by the legally and statutorily competent body of the higher education institution are due.
