    The curricular unit of Tecnologias Aplicadas ao Design de Moda will focus mainly on learning the various softwares needed to carry out a fashion project, acting inherently on the development topics of a fashion project from the initial idea to its presentation. This curricular unit will have a central scope regarding the treatment of the information and its development at a technical level. The projects developed in the curricular unit are fundamental for the correct development of a fashion products in terms of their manufacture.

    Description of the contents:

    1. Introduction to digital vector drawing tools.
      1. The fundamentals of the main digital vector drawing tools. Introduction to the working environment of vector drawing software and its features.
    2. The digital workflow applied to fashion design and production projects.
    3. Pattern design and technical drawing using computer aided drafting. Case studies and practical work.
    4. Theoretical framework about the technologies in the contemporary fashion industry, from 2D and 3D modeling technology applied to fashion design to augmented reality technologies and fashion design disseminated in online digital fashion shows and virtual worlds.

    Objectives

    1. To equip students with the notions of computer-aided design softwares to be used in technical garment design and pattern design for metre and piecewise printing.


    2. To know the fundamentals of digital vector drawing and apply them to practical fashion design projects.


    3. Know and master the standard tools of digital vector drawing; know the relevant standards for production.


    4. Develop a fashion design project using the digital vector drawing tools.


    5. Know and identify the challenges and potentialities of the technologies applied to contemporary fashion design.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The course will be developed through theoretical-practical, expository and demonstrative sessions, and practical work of an experimental nature developed during class sessions.

    A participatory attitute will be encourajed to facilitate learning and promotion of the teacher/student interaction.

    The tutorial teaching will be fundamentally used in the monitoring of the project that will be carried out throughout the course unit.
