1. Social and Human Sciences and scientificity.
2. Contemporary debates on epistemology, ethics, and politics in research.
3. The basis of a research project: the starting question.
4. Collection and review of bibliographic and secondary data using digital tools.
5. Overview of quantitative and qualitative methods, their advantages and limitations.
6. Methods and practices for collecting primary data.
7. Quantitative methods 1: questionnaires and introduction to statistical analysis using SPSS.
8. Quantitative methods 2: quantitative content analysis and NVivo.
9. Qualitative methods 1: thematic analysis.
10. Qualitative methods 2: critical discourse analysis.
11. The visual discourse: socio-semiotic analysis.
12. The audiovisual discourse: film analysis and cultural studies.
13. New frontiers of research: big data and netnography.
14. From theory to practice. Development of a research project and academic writing techniques.

Objectives
Objectives
This course aims to equip students to develop research projects in the field of Communication Sciences, while understanding the framework of this area within the Social and Human Sciences.
• Master the main theoretical debates on epistemology, ethics, scientificity, and good research practices within the Social and Human Sciences.
• Know and be able to use the main research support tools (open access databases, bibliographic referencing systems, scientific repositories).
• Know and understand the main research methods, both from a theoretical and practical point of view, their strengths and limitations, and how to implement these methods in practice.
• Problem-solve and manage digital data collection systems as a complement or substitute for various research methods.
