Masters Journalism and Media Studies

The Master's in Journalism and Media Studies is an innovative training programme with a focus on journalistic research. Journalistic research is a vital area for re-founding the media in the contemporary digital context. There is no 2nd cycle academic programme in the country that places investigative journalism at the centre of the scientific, pedagogical and operational skills to be acquired. The commitment to professionals and teachers of excellence in the field, such as Jacinto Godinho, José Vegar, Paulo Pena, among others, aims to structure a new area of reference, deepening the relationship between journalism, democracy, digital media and their regulation, and framing the area of Communication Sciences with that of Political Science.

You can apply for the cycle of studies leading to a master's degree: a) holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent; b) holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process by a State adhering to that process; c) holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognised as satisfying the objectives of a bachelor's degree by the statutorily competent body; d) holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised by the competent statutory body of CUL as attesting to their ability to complete this cycle of studies.

This master's programme is open to candidates from all areas of study who wish to delve deeper into this area of knowledge and work, and is particularly aimed at those coming from Communication and Journalism degrees or professionals working in the field of media and journalism.
