    The political disruption  in contemporary liberal democracies, expressed, for example, in the proliferation of hate speech, in the intensification of cases of corruption, in the emergence of populism and nationalism, requires a reflection on the ethical and deontological scope of political behavior.

    CP1 Concepts of ethics and deontology.

    CP2 Conflicts of interest and compliance with the law and/or institutional rules vs. respect for ethical principles.

    CP3 Collective corruption, depression and democracy.

    CP4 The black triad in institutions: narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy. Collective narcissism.

    CP5 Rights and duties of citizens at the micro, meso and macro institutional level.

    CP6 Contemporary issues: climate change, cyberterrorism; hate speech; digital polarization; collective violence; the intensification of inequalities; populism; nationalism

    Objectives

    LO1 To identify the importance of ethics and deontology in political behavior and the main ethical and deontological challenges of political practice.

    LO2 To understand the political and psychological consequences of separating ethics and politics.

    LO3 To understand the cognitive-emotional dimensions of ethical-deontological behavior.

    LO5 To analyze and evaluate the ethical quality of political citizenship.

    LO6 To promote the presentation of complex ideas.

    LO7 To encourage group discussion.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    This UC will value the analysis of concrete cases through expository, interrogative and active teaching methodologies. Oral presentation (40%) + Individual written work (50%) + participation in classes (10%)  = 100%.
