    Cosmetology II will provide students with knowledge and understanding of the various most common skin alterations/pathologies, as well as their pharmacological and cosmetic approach. In practical classes, students will have contact with the various cosmetic preparations and formulations used in the skin disorders covered in the theoretical content. The differences in raw materials and the peculiarities of each type of product will be emphasized, enabling students to choose different products for each situation.

    Main skin alterations, pathophysiology and pharmacological and cosmetic approach:  Acne and cosmetic actives.  Stretch marks, cellulite and localized fat Anti-aging. Facial rejuvenation. Vitiligo. Melasma. Psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. Rosacea Products with special applications: Physical and chemical peels. Sun protection and types of sunscreen. Photoprotective products. Self-tanning products. Tanning accelerators. Men's cosmetics.

    Objectives

    The student should acquire the knowledge and skills to recognize the most important aspects of the most common skin problems. Know the pathophysiology of the skin problems studied. Know the main cosmetic products and raw materials that are effective for skin problems. 
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    Flipped classrooms, where traditional lectures are replaced with interactive online content and in-person discussions, foster active learning and deeper understanding. Project-based learning allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Serious games in knowledge assessment.

    A avaliação preferencialmente contínua é o resultados da ponderação entre os seguintes elementos: Frequências - Componente A, Exercícios TP Componente B, Relatório dos trabalhos laboratoriais - Componente C, Assiduidade laboratorial – Componente D, Desempenho laboratorial - Componente E

    A nota é calculada de acordo com a seguinte formúla: A 70% + B 10% + C 10% + D 5% + E 5%.
