    1. Industrial Microbiology in the framework of biotechnology
    2. Introduction
      1. The phylogenetic classification (mRNA) of Carl Woesse
      2. Its relevance in industrial microbiology
    3. Microorganisms with industrial interest and their products.
      1. Selection and breeding of strains
      2. Choice of raw materials, growth conditions and metabolic regulation
      3. Primary products of microbial metabolism (biomass, amino acids, solvents, enzymes, organic acids).
      4. Secondary products of microbial metabolism
    4. Applications of other microbial processes.
      1. Monoclonal and catalytic antibodies
      2. Vaccines
      3. Biotransformations, bioleaching, biosensors
      4. Environmental biotechnology, biodeterioration of materials and their control and industrial treatment of waste water.

    Objectives

    At the end of CU students should understand the importance of industrial microbiology and its link to the economy, not neglecting the integrated systems of quality, environment and safety management.

    Skills related to various processes of production and microbiological control of intermediate and final products.

    Ability to solve the problems that are put in an industry at the microbiological level, which means to optimize the production systems.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

     Use of active methodologies through platforms such as Moodle.The referred materials include videos, audios, infographics, among others.

    Students ask questions, discuss the subject and compare answers. Presentation and discussion of case studies, problem solving, individually or in groups.
