Class Constructive Systems II

Understand the main constructive dimensions of 20th-century architecture through the analysis of representative concrete buildings. Identify the materials and techniques used in current construction processes, both from the 20th century and the present day. Understand the structural and non-structural elements that make up a typical residential building, as well as their representation in architectural projects.

The teaching will be developed through a combined approach, integrating the expository method, with the presentation of illustrative examples, and the research conducted by the students. In practical exercises, architectural representation will include simple surveys of construction elements, promoting architectural awareness. This approach aims to provide students with fundamental concepts of scale, form, and the dimensions of the materials used. As an integral part of the programme, study visits will be organised, allowing students to consolidate the knowledge acquired through direct observation of buildings and constructions.
