    Objectives

    In the Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy II course unit it is intended that the student knows to: explain the basic principles of drug development from natural products and the role of natural products in the development and production of drugs. Know the biosynthesis and chemical structure division and characterization of bioactive natural products, especially from plants. identify a selection of the most important medicinal plants, explain their uses and account for their pharmaceutically active compounds. Use of Phytotherapy.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    The course adopts innovative methodologies to enhance the teaching-learning process. The theoretical and laboratory classes are designed to deepen students' knowledge and provide practical application of the learned concepts. The teaching materials and interactive resources are available on the Moodle platform. Additionally, the course includes a fieldwork component with a visit to an industry that uses natural products, integrated into the profession contact week. The presentation and discussion of scientific articles and written works on phytotherapy, followed by the use of gamification, promote critical analysis and a deeper understanding of the topics. These methodologies ensure that students effectively integrate theory and practice.

    Aulas magistrais e laboratoriais, para aprofundar conhecimentos. Avaliações orais complementares da avaliação escrita. O aluno trabalhador-estudante que optar pela avaliação contínua deverá cumprir com os requisitos desta. A avaliação por exame final aplica-se aos alunos que por ele optem abrangendo a totalidade dos conteúdos programáticos (exame escrito e exame laboratorial). A melhoria de nota é realizada por avaliação escrita, englobando a totalidade dos conteúdos programáticos. Nesta UC inclui-se ainda um trabalho de campo que está integrado na semana de contacto com a profissão na forma de uma visita de estudo. Avaliação contínua: Assiduidade e desempenho 10% (A); um teste escrito (teste das aulas teóricas e teste laboratorial)30% (B); trabalhos laboratoriais, incluindo mini-projecto, 20% (C); apresentação e discussão de artigos científicos, 10% (D); apresentação e discussão de trabalhos escritos de fitoterapia, 30% (E).

    Classificação final = A (10%) + B (30%) + C (20%) + D (10%) + E (30%).

    Para obter aproveitamento, é obrigatória uma nota média mínima de 7,0 valores no teste escrito que inclui teste laboratorial.
