    1. Planning and land management: Evolution and perspectives. 2. Principles and concepts of planning and land management. 3. Planning and land management instruments at several scales: National Programme for Land Management Policy (PNPOT), Regional Land Management Plans (PROT), Special Land Management Plans: Coastal Zone Management Plans, Public Reservoirs Water Plans and Protected Areas, Municipal Plans (PMOT) and Municipal Master Plans and Inter-Municipal. 4. Risk analysis under the Spatial Planning in its various scales of intervention. 5. Integration of risk analysis in the context of program design and land management plans. 6. Setting Territorial Strategies Options and the establishment of standards and guidelines for the territorial risk management.  
  • Objectives

    Objectives

    This course aims to: Show the evolution of concepts and practices of Territorial Planning and Management; Understand the legislation and dominant concepts in planning and land management, given the different territorial scales; Understand the multidimensional character of planning and land management; Know the legislative context of risks and evaluation practices; Understand the integration of risk analysis in territorial models. At the end of the course unit the learner is expected to be able to - Describe the concepts and fundamental elements that guide the strategies, methodologies and intervention instruments in the territory. - Identify types of plans and their nature. - Develop the ability to interpret the dynamics and planning policies in various territorial contexts and scales; - Develop the ability to integrate the risks in planning and land management and propose solutions.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    Teaching is based on classroom work, independent study, and bibliographic research. The instructor presents and discusses content, applying it to real situations. Tutorials support out-of-class work. Students take part in topic discussions, problem-solving, and complete assignments outside class. Additional research is encouraged. A practical project promotes autonomy and self-learning. At certain points, students will present and defend their work orally, developing communication skills and a sense of responsibility.

  • Assessment

    Assessment

    A avaliação do tipo contínuo, através da realização de um trabalho prático (40%) e, ainda, de dois testes de avaliação (30%+30%). Em cada momento de avaliação o aluno deve obter a classificação mínima de 8,5 valores. As componentes de avaliação contínua correspondentes a provas individuais escritas são passíveis de recurso para um exame final escrito com peso para a classificação final, natureza e complexidade equivalentes aos das provas realizadas.
