Presentation
This course, articulating theory with practice, brings students closer to the fields and areas of intervention, as well as to the professional identity of Social Work itself. It develops the capacity for observation and critical reflection through the training of personal, interpersonal, and methodological skills regarding social realities and Social Work intervention contexts. These capacities are fundamental in the professional practice of social workers, which is so diverse and complex.

Objectives
Objectives
O1. Understanding and reflecting on the nature and significance of Social Work as a profession; O2. Developing and stimulating observation and reflection skills, as a requirement for understanding and interpreting reality and social problems; O3. Providing a first approach to social reality, to the specific issues of professional intervention of the Social Worker; O4. Blurring the boundary between university/classroom and social phenomena in their complex expression and the experiences of individuals; O5. Developing a social and cultural sensitivity that allows for a differentiated perspective on social problems understood in their complexity; O6. Developing personal and social competencies that allow for reflection and appropriation of the structuring dimensions of the professional self; O7. Developing social and professional competencies in observation, reflection, and operationalization: knowing how to observe, listen, think, and act.

Nos termos do Despacho Reitoral n.º 24/2023 (artigo 3.º), considera-se estudante com estatuto especial aquele que tenha apresentado prova da sua condição, a qual lhe confere direitos particulares relativamente à frequência de aulas ou à realização de provas.
