Syllabus
To familiarize the student with architectural complexity, working on, namely: The notion of order: articulation between functional organization, definition and structure; The deepening of the concepts of composition, measurement and module; Sensitivity to the plastic qualities of materials; The introduction to problems of constructive and structural feasibility.

Objectives
The objectives of this course include: Understanding the fundamental principles of building construction. Exploring the diverse functions of construction elements, encompassing practical, structural, poetic, symbolic, and cultural aspects. Expanding knowledge related to basic construction elements such as stairs, slabs, pillars, doors, windows, etc., while enriching architectural culture through exposure to models, notable works, and influential authors. Fostering an interest in Architectural Photography, serving as both motivation for visiting and recognizing architectural works and as a tool for crafting spatial narratives in architecture

Teaching methodologies
The expositional sessions are organized in alignment with the ongoing practical assignments. The practical component, through discussion sessions and the presentation of works, serves to further elaborate on the topics introduced during the theoretical sessions.

A avalíação é contínua, sem prova final, constituindo matéria de avaliação;
- Assiduidade não inferior a 75% da aulas
- Participação nas aulas
- Apresentações e trabalhos a realizar.
Propõe-se um método de ensino que assuma a arquitectura como uma atitude de síntese, procurando privilegiar a compreensão dos temas a tratar e servindo de estímulo ao aprofundamento da ideia do projecto, passando inevitavelmente, pelo entendimento da articulação com a prática do Projecto como campo privilegiado de aferição dos resultados pedagógicos.
No âmbito da articulação com a prática projectual terá particular importância, neste ano curricular, o contributo da abordagem da cultura arquitectónica na sua vertente tectónica e material para o aprofundamento da prática integrada do projecto no quadro do processo conceptual a ela inerente.
