This CU is part of the 2nd cycle in Teaching Physical Education in Basic and Secondary Education, scientific area Training Teachers and Trainers in Technological areas. Its objective is to provide in-depth training in the specific practices, techniques and methodologies of Athletics for the teaching and pedagogical application of sport in the school context. Additionally, it is intended that students recognize the relevance of this knowledge and reflections for the practical issues of their professional future.

PC1) The regulation of the sport, its terminology and technical performance models; PC2) Adaptation of rules and safety in a school context; PC3) Teaching progressions and technical improvement of Athletics; PC4) Assessment of the different domains of the teaching-learning process of Athletics in a school context: methods and criteria.

Objectives
Objectives
The learning objectives (LO) are defined as follows: LO1) Ability to teach and promote the practice of Athletics effectively, adapting the pedagogical approach to the level of motor and cognitive development of students. LO2) Know the regulations, terminology and specific concepts, and the main technical aspects of the sport; LO3) Know the main issues related to the safety and integrity of those practicing the sport; LO4) Acquire and apply knowledge regarding the methodological progressions of teaching the sport for the 2nd and 3rd cycles of Basic and Secondary Education; LO5) Observe and identify the most frequent technical errors, determine their causes and consequences, and apply the means and methods of intervention to correct them; LO6) Implement and evaluate the teaching and learning activities of Athletics.

Teaching methodologies
Different teaching methodologies (ME) will be used: Supervised pedagogical practice in a real context (ME1) Resolution of practical cases (ME2), Screening and discussion of documentaries/videos (ME3), Small group activities (ME4), Feedback information provided by the teacher about the work developed (ME5).

Assessment
Assessment
A avaliação é contínua e é levada a cabo nos termos do Regulamento Geral de Avaliação da Universidade Lusófona. Diferentes instrumentos de avaliação serão utilizados: 1) provas escritas; 2) provas de prática pedagógica simulada ou em contexto real; 3) observação e preenchimento de listas de verificação; 4) portfólio.
A classificação final é determinada arredondando às unidades o valor da média aritmética ponderada das classificações obtidas nos momentos de avaliação. Para a aprovação a classificação final terá que ser > ou = a 9.5 valores.
