Conference Consular Diplomacy in an Evolving (Geo)Political Environment

While traditional diplomacy focuses on treaties and negotiations between states, Consular Diplomacy deals with the relationship between the state and individuals.

This event explores how countries protect their citizens abroad, manage migration, and project influence in an increasingly complex world. The global landscape is changing. From geopolitical conflicts and global pandemics to the digital revolution, the way states interact with people across borders is transforming.

In this session, the Director-General for Consular Affairs, Joris Salden, will offer an insider perspective on how Belgium and the European Union navigate an increasingly volatile geopolitical environment.
