
Conference Conversation with Catarina Dias: Art and Trajectory
Discover the artist's international career, from her beginnings in London to her exhibitions and scenographic collaborations in Lisbon

Catarina Dias was born in London in 1979 and currently lives and works in Lisbon. She completed the Advanced Course at Ar.Co Lisboa in 2002 and, the following year, obtained a Master’s in Fine Arts from the Byam Shaw School of Arts in London. In 2011, she was nominated for the EDP New Artists Award.
Among her solo exhibitions, the following stand out: Inverted on Us (MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology), Through Wet Air (Pavilhão Branco, Municipal Galleries of Lisbon, 2024), We Know You Don’t See Us (Project Space, Encounter and Galeria Jahn und Jahn, Lisbon, 2023), Mamute (Galeria Vera Cortês, Lisbon, 2019) and This is Heat (a happening at Old School space, #42, Lisbon, 2016). For Every Last Thing was recently inaugurated at Rialto6.
Among the group exhibitions in which she has participated, notable ones include: Contravisões, A Fotografia na Coleção António Cachola (Elvas, 2023), Come Here There’s Something I Want To Show You (with Corita Kent, UPPERCUT, Lisbon, 2019), 10000 Years After Venus and Mars (Galeria Municipal do Porto, 2017) and The Colour of an Eclipse (with Pedro A. H. Paixão, Ar Sólido, Lisbon, 2016), among others.
Since 2012, she has regularly collaborated with the duo Sofia Dias and Victor Roriz on scenographic projects, including: Ruído (2024), Partícula (2023), Arremesso IX (2021), Sons (Mentirosos) Misteriosos (2020), O que não acontece (2018) and Satélites (2015).
