Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
On April 1st, Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre will host an Open Class dedicated to the theme "Foster Care: The Right of Children to a Family", as part of the course unit Intervention with Children and Young People. The event, taking place from 12 PM to 2 PM, will feature Dr Maria Alexandra Gonçalves, a master's degree holder in Social Policy and author of the book The Right of Children to a Family: Perceptions About the Foster Care Measure.
Foster care is a fundamental alternative to institutional care, allowing children in at-risk situations to find a safe and structured environment for their development. During the session, the specificities of this measure in Portugal will be discussed, addressing challenges, opportunities, and its impact on the lives of children and foster families.
This Open Class will be a valuable opportunity for students, professionals, and all those interested in deepening their knowledge on this essential topic for the protection of children's rights.
