Cláudia R. Sampaio is a poet and visual artist who divides her creative practice between writing and painting

Cláudia R. Sampaio holds a degree in Film from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and worked as a screenwriter before dedicating herself entirely to literary and visual creation.
Her poetic work, marked by a direct, visceral language stripped of artifice, includes six published titles, among them Ver no Escuro (Tinta-da-China, 2016) and I No Longer Lie Down in a Pose of Dying (Porto Editora, 2020). Her work has also been published in Brazil, and she was invited to the Guadalajara International Book Fair (2019). She also wrote a theatre piece presented at Culturgest as part of the PANOS festival (2017).
Represented by Projeto MANICÓMIO since 2018, a platform dedicated to creators with lived experience of mental illness, she was part of the first Portuguese delegation invited to the Outsider Art Fair in New York (2020). Her paintings are included in several private collections.
