Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre is pleased to announce the event "Great Artists on Campus: Françoise Vergès", featuring the renowned activist, curator, and public educator. This event, taking place at Cinema Fernando Lopes on April 9th, 2025, offers a unique opportunity to explore the revolutionary ideas of Françoise Vergès, co-founder of the collective Decolonize the Arts and the free university Decolonizing the Arts.
Françoise Vergès, who holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, is one of the leading voices in the antiracist and feminist movements, focusing on the intersection of psychology and post-colonial theory. During the event, attendees will hear directly from the author of influential works such as A Decolonial Feminism and Decolonizing the Museum, discussing her perspectives on art, colonialism, and social justice. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session, allowing the audience to engage with the speaker.
