Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Lusófona University, in Lisbon, will host the II SOMUS International Conference between 11th and 15th February 2025. The event, which will take place in a hybrid format (online and in-person), aims to reflect on the current challenges of social museology and its responsibility in contemporary society, aligned with the 2022 update of the ICOM Code of Ethics.
The event aims to promote an in-depth debate on how museums should position themselves in the face of growing threats to Human Rights and human dignity. The conference will address the importance of museums and museological processes adopting a stance of social responsibility, in line with UNESCO’s 2015 guidelines, and how this practice should be incorporated into the ICOM’s definitions and ethical codes.
