Launch Launch: Media, Art & Technology in the Nine Portuguese-Speaking Cultures

The book "Media, Art & Technology in the Nine Portuguese-Speaking Cultures", edited by Professor José Manuel Simões, from the University of Saint Joseph in Macau, brings together several research projects spanning Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste.

This is a multidisciplinary volume that prioritizes research approaches within the fields of media, arts, and technology in the so-called Lusophone space, articulating foundations, theories, and classification methods for scientific knowledge production, and contributing to a deeper understanding of these territories.

At this session, some of the authors of chapters will be present, including "Nakhodha and the Mermaid on Mozambique Island: Immersive Narratives as a Communication Model for Human and Sustainable Development", by Vanessa Ribeiro-Rodrigues, Lusófona University & CICANT; "Art and Technology in Portugal: Chronologies, Archaeologies, Symbolisms", by Rui Torres, Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) & ICNOVA, co-authored with Fernanda Bonacho, School of Communication and Media Studies (ESCS) / Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (IPL) & ICNOVA; "The Contribution of Digital Media to Entrepreneurship and Development in São Tomé and Príncipe", by José Manuel Simões, University of Saint Joseph (USJ–Macau); and "The Media System as a Lever for Democratic Development in Timor-Leste", by Paulo Faustino, Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP & CITCEM).

This initiative is promoted by researcher and professor Vanessa Ribeiro-Rodrigues, in partnership with the PhD Programme in Communication and Activisms, coordinated by Professors Carla Cerqueira and Célia Taborda, and is part of the activities of LabCLIP – Laboratory for the Study of the Intercultural Portuguese-Speaking Community, coordinated by Professor Lurdes Macedo.
