The A Teu Lado Project, coordinated by the CNPDPCJ, was a pilot initiative created to respond to the need for early intervention with children who are victims of domestic violence. Its main objective was to promote socio-emotional skills in children and young people supported by the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Young People, contributing to breaking the intergenerational cycle of violence and ensuring faster and more effective protection.
<p>The programme, structured into 10 sessions distributed across five modules — assessment, emotions, interpersonal relationships, problem-solving and future —, addressed emotional identification and regulation, communication strategies, safety plans, resilience and self-compassion. Launched in September 2021 and funded by the EEA Grants – European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (2014–2021), the project ended on 30 April 2024. The manual developed throughout the project constitutes an important resource for professionals in the field, serving as an example of evaluated good practice to be replicated in future interventions.
