Dr Maria Caiado, a veterinarian specialising in wildlife, will share her journey from her studies in Portugal to her experience with wildlife in South Africa, where she joined the veterinary services of Rooiberg Veterinary Services. During the session, she will describe her daily work as a veterinarian, covering tasks such as veterinary care, animal relocation and reintroduction, conservation efforts, habitat evaluation, nutritional and breeding management, as well as emergency actions and wildlife rehabilitation.
Graduating in Veterinary Medicine from Lusófona University in 2022, Dr Maria Caiado gained practical experience with wildlife in South Africa, which propelled her international career. Since 2024, she has been part of Rooiberg Veterinary Services, where she specialises in the care of wildlife, production, and domestic animals, contributing to the conservation and welfare of ecosystems.
The event, conducted in Portuguese, will allow direct interaction with Dr Maria Caiado, offering participants the opportunity to ask questions in either Portuguese or English.
