A masterclass aimed at film students and actor training students, with filmmaker Marcelo Taranto. This session focuses on the relationship between directing, acting, and cinematic language.
Marcelo Taranto is a Brazilian filmmaker with an extensive career, possessing solid experience in feature films, documentaries, and commercial productions. His career in feature-length cinema began with "A Hora Marcada" (1995), a work that forms part of the Retomada do Cinema Brasileiro period. Consolidating his presence in the national scene, his second feature film, "Ponto Final", was selected for the prestigious Gramado International Film Festival.
In the short film format, Taranto stood out with "Esgoto a Céu Aberto", screened at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, a work that powerfully addresses the harsh reality of children in favelas and their involvement with drug trafficking. Reinforcing his commitment to social issues, in 2020 he was invited to participate in a special film project celebrating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Holding a Master’s degree in Film Screenwriting from Universidad de La Laguna (Spain), Marcelo Taranto also dedicates his career to training new talents. As a mentor in the film course at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), he supervised over 130 fiction short films.
