This workshop will cover the principles of running a high welfare ‘Trap-Neuter-Release’ (TNR) program for cats.
Shelter medicine is important. This is a growing area within veterinary medicine dedicated to the care and needs of animals in the community, particularly homeless and sheltered animals. This seminar will cover: You’ll learn the principles of running a high welfare "Trap-Neuter-Release" (TNR) program for cats.

The global veterinary community works together to promote good animal welfare for all companion animals.
The purpose of the Committee is – make animal welfare an everyday consideration for small animal professionals and ensure WSAVA is respected. You’ll be an active and respected partner in international wellness circles, combining advocacy with mutual respect and consensus building.
Objective of the workshop:
- Understanding the needs and management principles of high welfare animal slaughter projects
- Understanding the challenges faced in implementing shelter medicine
- Inspire everyone to meet or exceed American Shelter Vet (ASV) standards whenever possible
- Engage local veterinarians, local government officials, shelter managers and staff in practical issues of animal protection and shelter medicine
- Lead the regional community on public health, animal protection, and compassionate care
Target Audience:
- Veterinarians who perform TNR - improvement of techniques and handling of animals
- Local governments that are considering starting TNR programs
