Presentation
The curricular unit Design of Buildings complements the knowlwdge on the field of structural concrete started at the curricular unit Reinforced Concrete. Technical aspects of the analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures are discussed according to European standards (Eurocodes). The topics introduced in the curricular unit Design of Buildings are essential for the training of a civil engineer, since important concepts to the professional activity, both in the areas of design and production (control and management of constructions), are introduced.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
All the course subsjects are discussed in the theoretical and tutorial classes. The concepts, principles and methods are introduced and explained in the theoretical classes, being complemented with the resolution of ilustrative problems. The students are encouraged to solve problems contained in assigned works. The evaluation is distributed along the semeter (two mid-term tests and one work). A minimum grade of 10 out of 20 is required.
