Presentation
The course is structured in the search for contributions and relationships between History and the practice of socio-educational intervention of educators. It aims to create a space for reflection/training and research in the field of the History of Contemporary Portugal, highlighting dynamics, continuities and political changes in different chronological times and contexts. It makes it possible to raise awareness of the relevance and meaning of History in the challenges of the 21st century, articulating historical, political, economic, social, cultural and educational realities of different periods of history in Contemporary Portugal, in its relationship with European and world historical events. The activities are expected to contribute to the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes conducive to critical reflection, creative search for solutions and good practices of educators, in respect for principles of ethics and deontology.

Objectives
Know the political, economic and social realities of Contemporary Portugal; Understand the changes in Portuguese society in the XIX and XX centuries, relating them with the European and world realities; Analyze the path of modernity in Portugal, based on the dynamics, continuities and ruptures of regimes and political systems of contemporaneity; Reflect on the relevance and meaning of history for the understanding of the challenges of the 21st century, in the political, social, economic, cultural and educational aspects of the Portuguese historical context, in its relation with the European and the world context; Acquire awareness of the community to which they belong, of the responsibility to preserve their heritage and of a citizen participation. Skills for: Research, analysis and synthesis of information of a historical nature, contextualising it of in time and space of the chronological periods under study; Cooperation and interaction in the group.

Teaching methodologies
The methodology aims to encourage investigation, reflection and participation of students in activities, both individually and in groups, with moments of exposure, questioning and collective debate, complemented by autonomous work to deepen the content. The classes are theoretical and theoretical-practical, with the use of resources (digital, iconographic sources, press, pedagogical materials, etc.), mobilising concepts, methods and techniques of historical research and stimulating students to a reflective academic practice. It focuses on learning processes and results, student participation and contributions, individual and group written and oral presentation of thematic works of complementary research and of a final work of individual synthesis, built during the semester.

Assessment
A avaliação das aprendizagens é semestral, contínua e formativa, obedecendo ao quadro de referência definido e às evidências recolhidas no decurso e no final da UC, de acordo com o nível atingido pelo estudante, das metas e atividades propostas. Incide sobre processos e resultados de aprendizagem, decorrentes da participação e apresentação individual e de grupo, escrita e oral de trabalhos temáticos em resposta a atividades propostas, recorrendo a investigação complementar; apresentação escrita e oral, no final da UC, de um trabalho de projeto individual, construído durante o semestre e da participação nas aulas e contributos dados para as atividades dinamizadas nas mesmas. O processo de avaliação inclui, ainda, a autoavaliação do estudante como processo de reflexão sobre a sua prática académica e a avaliação da UC, através do balanço do trabalho realizado por estudantes e docentes. Os estudantes que não escolhem o modelo de formação contínua, submetem-se a exame final de frequência.
