Presentation
Presentation
This curricular unit exhibits a different profile when compared to other lectured curricular units since its nature is essentially practical, in a scenario of a specific problem, with precise objectives and specifications for which students are expected to develop, design, optimize and validate tangible solutions, through autonomous and collective research work. As its designation implies, the areas of expertize where the projects take place are the areas of energy and electronic power systems, although the covered spectrum extends also several areas of electro-technical engineering.

Objectives
Objectives
Defined objectives for the curricular unit A - To develop the design capacity in electric power and power systems, in particular in the areas of power systems, power electronics, industrial electronics, electronic actuators, electric machines, active power filters, interface converters for renewable energy sources and the AC mains, and electrical systems. B - To stimulate the research work and analysis of existing solutions in the fields of energy and power engineering, as well as to develop the students' critical analysis and result interpretation. C - To develop students' sensitivity to the problems of power quality, energy efficiency and harmonic distortion, among others.
-
Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
To support the teaching-learning process, slide projections, electrical engineering simulation software and demonstration video projections are used.

Assessment
Assessment
