    The scope of this unit encompasses the study and design of telecommunications networks in buildings, properly framed in the current norms and standards enforced in Portugal, the ITED and ITUR norms, that mirrors the current European legislation. The pertinence of this unit is then clear: The design and installation of telecommunications networks in buildings and urban sectors, requires that a set of quality and reliability norms is upheld, and constitutes an asset which is of paramount importance in the workplace, in the field of telecommunications;

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The student is expected to acquire the technical skills to, autonomously, design the telecommunications infrastructure of a building, and block sector, according to the norms in place (ITED and ITUR). The student will also be able to plan and manage his work, applying basic project management techniques. Finally, it is intended that the student acquires strong skills that allow one to answer the challenges of the workplace, in the areas of computer science applied to telecommunications, namely in the design and installation of telecommunications infrastructures and computer networks. The fundamental skills to develop are: 1. Familiarization with the materials and components used in ITED and ITUR networks; 2. Familiarization with the design and installation rules of ITED and ITUR networks; 3. Familiarization with project execution (with resort to CAD tools) and its management;

    Teaching methodologies

    Supply of a set of study material, in digital form, namely, slides and exercices. Use of simulation software.

    Assessment

    Prova Teórica (50% da Classificação Final):
    - Provas escritas, abrangendo a totalidade da matéria das aulas teóricas e exames nas épocas previstas
    nos regulamentos.
    - Prova oral, que poderá ser realizada para confirmar qualquer nota obtida na avaliação escrita
    - Nota mínima: 10.0 valores.

    Projeto Final (50% da Classificação Final):
    - Projeto final, de uma infraestrutura ITUR e ITED, contemplando todos os conceitos lecionados.
    - Defesa oral do projeto, para avaliação da compreensão dos trabalhos executados;
    - Os temas do projeto são: redes ITED e ITUR;
    - Nota mínima: 10.0 valores.
