Presentation
This curricular unit aims to deepen the knowledge of applied hydraulics acquired in the introductory course, focusing on the design and analysis of hydraulic structures and urban water systems. Topics include orifices, spillways, reservoirs, water conveyance and distribution systems, and wastewater and stormwater drainage systems. The unit has a strong practical and project-oriented approach, enabling students to develop engineering solutions for hydraulic infrastructures while considering hydraulic, operational, and sustainability criteria. Its relevance within the study cycle lies in preparing students for the design and management of water supply and sanitation systems.

Objectives
Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to: Apply advanced hydraulic principles to the design of hydraulic structures; Analyse the hydraulic behaviour of orifices, spillways, and reservoirs; Design water conveyance and distribution systems; Design wastewater and stormwater drainage systems; Prepare hydraulic engineering projects, including technical reports, design calculations, and drawings; Use hydraulic calculation software and interpret the obtained results;

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
The curricular unit will be taught through theoretical and practical classes, including the presentation of fundamental concepts, guided problem-solving sessions, and the development of hydraulic engineering projects. Computational tools will be used to support hydraulic calculations and analyses. A technical visit to a hydraulics laboratory is also planned, allowing students to experimentally observe the operation of orifices, spillways, pipelines, and other hydraulic structures, as well as to become familiar with testing equipment and experimental methodologies used in research and professional practice. Assessment - Test: 40% - Water conveyance system project: 20% - Water supply system project: 20% - Wastewater and stormwater drainage system project: 20%
