Anatomy I is devoted to the study of embryology and the study of bones and joints of the spine, thorax and limbs of domestic animals (carnivores, ruminants, horses, pigs and rabbits) and anaotomy of other animals such as birds and fish.

Objectives
- Understand the importance of veterinary anatomical nomenclature - Understand basic concepts of embryology and its importance for a normal fetal anatomy - Knowledge to assess bones and joints of domestic animals - Recognize the importance of anatomy knowledge in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies, including surgical pathologies - Identify anatomical references needed in therapeutic planning, including surgery Students must be able to (skills): - Apply anatomical references necessary for other areas of veterinarian medicine, including clinical pratice - Integrate into work groups and assume a collaborative attitude in the team - Define and distribute roles to each member of the working group - Fulfill the assigned functions and share knowledge among the other group members - Establish good interpersonal relationships with peers - Communicate clearly, rigorously and concisely - Show confidence and conviction

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Priority is given to the use of active methodologies (“jigsaw”, “inverted classroom”, “learning by doing”, “problem-based learning”, etc) combined with traditional teaching. Formative assessment is carried out during the classes, through apps such as "mentimeter", "whiteboard", "socrative" which allows to continuously diagnose the needs of students, for better guidance. Discussion of exercises is promoted. For "inverted classroom", videos are available on the "educast" platform (Veterinary Anatomy https://educast.fccn.pt/vod/channels/1c2yq1rahy?locale=pt) for consultation inside and outside of the classroom. Use of various types of alternative resources to the traditional teaching of anatomy, namely models, plastic sheets, software, virtual atlas and a virtual dissection table.

Avaliação:
- É obrigatória a presença a, pelo menos, 2/3 das aulas programadas*.- Para aprovação o aluno deve obter uma classificação final na UC e em cada componente (teórica e prática) da mesma, igual ou superior a 9,5 valores
- A classificação final da unidade curricular corresponde à média ponderada da avaliação prática (50%) e teórica (50%).A modalidade de avaliação contínua intercalar consiste na realização dos seguintes momentos de avaliação:
- Componente Teórica: Provas escrita
- Componente Prática: Apresentação em grupo e/ou individual, provas escritas ou exposição oral.
Para a realização dos trabalhos, é esperado que os alunos reflitam sobre os conceitos expostos em aula e efetuam uma auto-aprendizagem orientada sobre o tema atribuído. Para cada trabalho, estima-se que os alunos utilizem no mínimo 90 minutos para um estudo autónomo orientado.
A modalidade de exame consiste na realização dos seguintes momentos de avaliação:
- Componente Teórica: 1 Prova escrita
- Componente Prática: 1 Prova escrita e/ou exposição oral
* Excetuam-se os alunos com Estatuto de trabalhador-estudante e outros aplicáveis. Para estes casos, é aplicado um regime suplementar de avaliação, para aferição de conhecimentos, que inclui uma prova oral de demonstração de competências, definido pelo docente. Esta prova corresponde a 40% da nota final prática, sendo reajustada a média ponderada para o cálculo da nota final da seguinte forma: Nota Final Prática = ( Média de Avaliação Contínua/Nota do exame prático × 0,60) + (Nota da Prova suplementar × 0,40).
Durante as provas de avaliação, é estritamente proibida a consulta, logo, não é permitido que os alunos possuam qualquer material de consulta (apontamentos, sebentas, livros, tecnologia com acesso a internet mesmo que desligados, relógios, etc).
