    Syllabus

    1. Types of activities and strategies that can be used in road infrastructure maintenance and management. 2. Main pathologies, degradation classification systems, conservation principles, and techniques used in maintenance and rehabilitation. 3. Methodologies used in pavement inspection and assessment. Functional and structural characterisation of pavements. Models for predicting the evolution of degradation. 4. Design of new pavements, structural analysis of existing pavements and rehabilitation design. Pavement Management Systems.

    Objectives

    It is intended that students acquire knowledge necessary to manage the maintenance of road infrastructures, particularly in the fields of earthworks, drainage and paving.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    Active teaching methodology places the student at the centre of the learning process. Students are encouraged to solve autonomously exercises for evaluation, having the opportunity to discuss with their peers the methodology to solve the problems. This process will allow students to develop critical thinking, increasing their problem-solving capacity.
