The unit introduces students to the fundamental concepts of diplomacy and strategy in the modern international system. The unit considers, inter alia, theories of war and peace, great power competition, the nature of the world economy and the mechanisms leading to peaceful outcomes. The knowledge gained by students allows for a critical understanding of current international problems.

Objectives
Objectives
The aim of the unit is to guide studentes as they develop critical thinking, analytical capacities and scientific methods. Specifically, the aim is to guide students in the operacionalization of concepts derived from geopolitics and IR theory, so that they may apply these concepts to international events. Also, the relationship between theory, diplomacy and international politics is developed. In short, the unit seeks to familiarize studens with the scientific literature, the main concepts and analytical tools in the field of international relations
