The course Technical Management of Social Care Services aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to undertake technical management roles across a range of social care services, promoting ethical, effective, sustainable, and quality-oriented management. It addresses the legal and regulatory framework, administrative, financial, and organisational management, as well as protocols and cooperation agreements with the Portuguese Social Security system. Students develop competencies in team supervision, quality monitoring, innovation management, and social impact assessment. The course examines the specificities of technical management in services for children and young people, older adults, persons with disabilities, migrants, people experiencing homelessness, and other vulnerable groups, preparing students to address contemporary social challenges with technical expertise, ethical responsibility, and leadership skills.

Objectives
Objectives
This course unit aims to equip students with the competences required for the technical management of social responses, ensuring effective, ethical, and sustainable management. Students will develop knowledge regarding the legal framework, administrative and financial management, and the establishment of protocols and cooperation agreements with Social Security. They will acquire skills in team supervision, service quality monitoring, and compliance with specific regulations. The unit also promotes competences in innovation and the creation of social responses, ensuring that services are suited to the needs of children and young people, older persons, persons with disabilities, migrants, homeless people, and other vulnerable groups.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
This unit adopts active teaching methodologies, combining theoretical exposition with practical application. Interactive classes present the legal and administrative frameworks of social responses. Case studies address the implementation of protocols, audits, and inspections by Social Security. Simulations and role-playing exercises prepare students to solve technical and administrative problems. Group work fosters the design of internal regulations and manuals of good practices.
